Q4 Clue 859 | Correcting
How do you give corrections that are effective and consistent with the different DISC Styles?
D-style
Be direct, clear and factual. No long-winded explanations, keep it short and to the point. Name what is not working and what you expect, then let it go. Give space to resolve it.
I-style
Correct personally, with empathy. Start positively and give direction without barking orders. Address the behaviour, not the person, and conclude with confidence in improvement.
S-style
Provide a calm and safe environment. Respond privately, show respect, and take your time. Make it clear that you want to end the conversation on a positive note and that everything will be alright.
C-style
Be concrete, well-founded and correct. Name ‘the why’ of the correction, and preferably by referring to agreements or processes. Provide time for response and self-correction.
