Q4Clue 609 The shortest day of the year

Exactly today, December 21st, is the shortest day of this year.

There is a good chance that you will not see daylight during the working week. Go away in the dark and already dark when you go home*. That is true, in Amsterdam, the day lasts only 7 hours and 40 minutes today.
*) or for the home workers, from when you begin and end the working day.

YES! It’s already the shortest day, as of tomorrow we are going in the right direction again. Above all, let us see it in a positive light. Each day lasts 3 minutes and 20 seconds longer now. Off to the summer and hopefully next year back to normal!

Not for nothing is it called the dark days before Christmas. And that’s why we have festive lights for these days (which seems to become more every year). But most importantly, get enough light (and vitamins) plus it will bring cosiness too!

Did you know that the shortest day is not always December 21st? The midwinter date can also be 1 or 2 days earlier, or sometimes the 23rd. But that makes sense, of course, the orbit of the earth around the sun is not a perfect circle but an ellipse…
