This week has been created to raise awareness of the Assistance Dog. So let’s do that, speaking from the Personal Style DISC Style: What, Who, How, and Why?
D-style
Assistance dogs offer their owner safety and independence. Therapy dogs provide psychological or physical support and work with many people under the guidance of their handler.
I-style
These dogs are allowed everywhere and can be recognised by the vest. They are not pets and should be treated as such. Never pet and approach them without the owner’s permission.
S-style
Assistance dogs are trained to behave exceptionally well in a public place. They almost blend into the background and are incredibly considerate of their handler. They work like a team with their owner.
C-style
A service dog undergoes specialised training. Learns to understand and carry out as many as 50 to 60 commands and tasks. Like pressing lift buttons, taking medicine out of the fridge and ensuring you don’t bump into anything!
