Q4 Clue 598 Day of the Teacher
Today is a special day to show appreciation to teachers. That is why we would like to share a few DISC insights. How to recognise the student plus a few tips!
D-style
Verbal present students. Demanding and prefer to decide for themselves (what needs to be done etc.). Take the lead, especially towards the other pupils who follow this type naturally.
- Most of all, show self-confidence
- Give them some freedom, but keep control and, above all, the final call
I-style
Cheerful present students. A quick comment and a prompt reply, the talkers and the jokers. Good at influencing others. Always in search of recognition.
- Avoid endless discussions, show that you are also verbally assertive and can hold up to them
- But don’t offend this person (in the classroom), losing face is like the end of the world
S-style
A bit in the background students. The relaxed group and quietly awaits the instructions that are coming. They don’t take the initiative directly. But go against their grain, and they dig in their heels.
- Make sure you don’t overlook this group, better; give them the most attention
- Instruction, instruction and instructions. One step at a time, of course
C-style
Indirect present students. At first, a bit reserved but then ‘suddenly’ they can show up. With the well-known Why? question. Sometimes the smart one, because they have thought about it very carefully.
- Know them and above all be well prepared, instant knowledge (down to the last detail) is an advantage
- Always provide the information or indicate where it can be found (Chapter 6, page 84, paragraph 3.6 and third paragraph from above)
