A task, a decision or a difficult conversation. Everyone puts things off sometimes. What gets left undone and why can vary depending on your DISC style.
Wants to understand why something is needed and agree with the approach. If it doesn’t seem right yet or appears less important, then it can stay on hold. A bit more research and evaluation… but when do you know enough to get started?
Likes tackling tasks that deliver results. Does something else offer better or quicker results? Then the priority shifts. The previous task can wait – until it gets in the way and suddenly has to be done right now.
Need to confront someone or deliver bad news? The S would rather wait for a better moment. The tricky subject is sometimes swept under the carpet. Until the proverbial straw breaks the camel’s back and it comes out anyway.
Starts excitedly but gets distracted or gets carried away by new ideas. Something exciting comes up before the previous task is finished. Until previous commitments catch up. “Oh yes, I still had to do that too!”
Recognisable? Knowing what’s holding you back helps to give yourself a little nudge: persevere, finish it first, address it, or just get started.
