Of course, we celebrate the liberation from the Second World War. Still, sadly, it is becoming increasingly relevant that we must continue to ‘fight’ for our freedom.

I-style

It’s also good to celebrate pleasantly and enjoyably. This could be at a festival, the 5 May concert or by organising or joining a local freedom meal.

S-style

Commemorating and celebrating are important, but so is preserving and passing on these traditions. Organise your commemoration or share these traditions with children and young people.

C-style

The theme for this year is 80 years of freedom. That is a long time, but ‘freedom is never finite’; we must continue to work for it and commit ourselves to preserving it. Freedom is something we share.
