Q4 Clue 827 | DISC Communication sequence – What Not to Do
We often focus on the best way to communicate with someone. But in this Q4 Clue, let’s consider what you should not say or do!
D-style
Do you have a minute? Can I bother you for a moment? In the D brain, this triggers a “no!” I don’t have time; I have lots of other things to do. And what is ‘a moment’? One minute or thirty? Get to the point.
I-style
No personal ‘click’ – straight to the point. That’s already a 1-0 loss for you whatever you want or ask for. The I wonders, among other things, who are you? Why no ‘personal recognition’?
S-style
Drop what you’re doing; this is urgent! Or, in other words, create a sudden change. This causes ‘stress’ with the S style. Hit the brakes! Let me finish what I’m doing first and then see what’s next.
C-style
I need your answer now—or you must decide immediately! Then, all alarm bells will go off for this style. I first want (need!) to think about it properly. I need time for that, so it’s not now or immediate.
